Deliverance is back! Andrew Lowen here, being very informal by writing text among the beautiful images ? The quickest summary I can give about why this game is worth backing according to its players are the following things:

  • There is both a one-shot Skirmish mode and a challenging story-driven Campaign.
  • Set-up is 10 minutes. The thoughtful game inserts make for quick set-up/teardown.
  • Deliverance has very dynamic characters with deep customization options.
  • The Darkness, Saint, & Prayer systems are thematically unique to Deliverance. Ignore the Darkness at your own peril!
  • It respects the serious topics of spiritual warfare and Scripture, but it's also a good game on its own merits. This is probably more shocking to Christians than anybody.
  • We release free quarterly content for all our players.

ENOUGH TEXT... TO THE FANCY IMAGES!

As a Deliverance backer, you will gain free access to new content every quarter. We love our fans, so we offer ongoing support of Deliverance through free PDF Scenario packs delivered quarterly via email and in Kickstarter Updates.

You can see our Scenario Packs right here on BoardGameGeek.

1) Choose Your Angel

Choose from a diverse cast of angelic heroes gifted with control over the elements of the mortal realm and beyond. Each angel has unique abilities and comes with their own set of highly customized skills and upgrades. Angels grow in power and become even more specialized by equipping Heavenly Treasures as you progress.

Each angel has 125 unique Talent combinations. These combos increase exponentially with over 70 Heavenly Treasure cards that provide variability and special bonuses. These systems work together to make every game feel fresh.

You may play all modes of Deliverance with 1-5 players. Deliverance is well-tested and fast-paced at all player counts (especially with our revamped 4-5 player rules)! As a solo player, you may play with 2 angels, but for the soloists that love the idea of "true" solo, you also have the option to use one angel and the Intercessor board.

2) Battle Against the Forces of Evil

Engage your demonic adversaries in grid-based, cooperative, tactical combat. You must use your limited actions wisely to send your foes to the abyss and survive their onslaught. While Deliverance does use dice for bonus rolls, combat in Deliverance is deterministic, meaning you will never frustratingly miss that critical final blow.

The demons won't make it easy for you, though! Enemies use a simple-to-execute menu of actions that involve both skills that always activate and actions determined by the roll of the dice. You will have a difficult time predicting your foes, as each demon type's customized decision tree will often force you to adapt quickly or suffer defeat!

3) Deliver The Saints From Darkness

The Saints of Fallbrook act as battlefield objectives represented on the board as mortals that you must protect. Your demonic adversaries will try to oppress them, which causes Darkness to enter the spiritual realm. You must defend them, or suffer the consequences of their oppression as more Darkness enters the battlefield.

The Darkness card system forces difficult decisions about how to use your limited actions. You must hold back the tide of Darkness as you combat the demons, or suffer the consequences as your forces are hampered and the demons are bolstered.

Fortunately, angels may receive divine aid through Prayer to overcome even the most dire conditions! Pray actions allow angels to cast down Darkness, remove afflictions, revive allies, and gain powerful Prayer cards which can turn the tide of battle.

4) Defeat The Fallen Prince!

Defeat the hordes of demons before you to force a confrontation with the Fallen Princes leading the demonic armies. These mighty demonic commanders present new surprises, intensified Darkness, and devastating attacks for a final showdown of epic proportions!

Deliverance can be played in multiple modes: Skirmish, Campaign, and Scenario.

Skirmish is a "one shot" adventure with a random set-up, making it a great choice for game night with friends. If your gamer group is skilled, you can ramp up the intensity across 5 difficulty levels from Adventure to Infernal!

The Campaign is a series of connected missions where you will grow in power, uncover the schemes of the Council of the Fallen (or delve into the mystery of Fallbrook in the base game), and make choices that reveal secrets and determine the fate of Fallbrook. Once you are ready, you may return to any Campaign mission to complete its' Challenge - these are intensely difficult missions meant for skillful, powered up angels!

Lastly, a Scenario blends the dynamic leveling and quick one-shot experience of Skirmish games with the unique victory conditions and custom battle set-up of a Campaign mission.

We're About To Press The Button!

2026-11-02 18:47:38

Hello saints! October’s update is here! We have pictures of the Folded Space Insert, manufacturing news, a Raudbjorn angel character spotlight, and more good news for everyone that backed the base game or upgrade kit. Lets jump right into it!

IMPORTANT: Lock In Your Pledge Manager Now!

Many of you have already done this, but once we hit print, we're going to lock the pledge manager. This is your last chance to add all the discounted add-ons you wanted from the Kickstarter to your pledge, update your address, and pay for shipping.

You can do that by visiting the Hive Pledge Manager here: https://hiveinteractive.net/pledgemanager

Our final date for locking the Pledge Manager is December 4th. We will be well into manufacturing by that time, and our shipping partners need final backer lists. We're going to give you one final warning in our next KS update on November 30th, but after that, no refunds will be available. Also, any partially filled pledge will be considered a donation to our campaign.

That said, we have hearts and extreme levels of passion for our fans, so if you have any problem with your pledge, you can always email support@playdeliverance.com and we will do our best to help you!

Manufacturing Update

TL;DR: We sent over all our final files to Longpack! Once they organize everything and confirm, we'll hit print. Slight adjustment to the calendar, but timing windows remain similar.

Our latest timeline is below:

October 2024 (Done): Deliverance: Council of the Fallen is funded!
November 2024 (Done): Pledge Manager launches, 3D files submitted to manufacturer
Nov 2024 - November 2025 (Done): Deliverance content development completed
December 2025 (Done): Printed files sent to the manufacturer.
January 2026 (Done): Print Sample & Miniature Sample Manufacturing
March 2026 (Done): Fixing miniature issues + MORE Polishing of content and story
September 2026 (Done): Receive final samples & begin final review
November - December 2026 (We are Here!): Mass Manufacturing
January 2027: Ocean Freight begins
February-March 2027: Final Fulfillment begins

We have delivered all files to Longpack to prepare for printing. Since October 22nd, they have been organizing and preparing to print a massive number of items. This is our most complex Kickstarter ever (also our second Kickstarter ever, go figure). But wow, what we've elected to do had serious consequences on our social lives 😆

The wonderful thing for you is that, by bearing with us all this time, you're going to get the absolute best version of Deliverance and all our add-ons. What follows in every update after the timeline is our best attempt to explain some of it, but because of the campaign nature of the game, we can't really expand on the best parts. These are for you to discover yourself! These are what we consider the*best* sort of consequences - reaping your reward at the end of an epic Deliverance journey!

We have several feature things for you, but I wanted to share some of the last minute polish we gave to the game that you're going to have to discover.

As an example of this: Many of you love playing Christine, but as we finished the final polish on expansion characters like Corra or Juan, Christine's limitations just kept growing more and more obvious. Every version of a character we designed that had an AoE skill that cost Courage was superior to Christine, because her base kit is very simple, and her Talents didn't do enough to differentiate her from the crowd of angelic companions. And now that you have your choice of 18 angels to play, Christine would surely sit at the bottom of the pack in power level.

So Christine got a little buff 😇

Now, almost every one of her talents has "Overcharge" text. Every round, you're going to have access to optional bonus effects, and how you use them opens brand new and very powerful lines of gameplay for the Voice of Thunder.

When you use a skill, you may overcharge it (or may overcharge one Talent that affects the skill used). When you do, you gain a powerful additional benefit. Here are 3 examples for you to chew on:

Lightning Stab got a little new utility with Rolling Thunder, allowing you to move an infinite number of spaces when using Lightning Stab.

Accumulate now has more range (upgraded from 1 to 2 range) AND removes a negative status effect when overcharged.

Although a very cool skill, our team considered this underpowered compared to other Level 3 Talents. Now, Imbue Lightning doesn't just give your ally's attack an added charge... When you overcharge it, it grants a shield of protection, too!

Christine already had her fan favorites, but now, she's got the power level to match her title!

This change was made as a result of our philosophy of game design for Deliverance. We view it as a "living" game that needs to be "patched" (aka updated) over time, in similar fashion to a video game. That is why the Upgrade Kit exists, and that is why we just added these 15 new Christine Talent cards at no additional cost to everyone that purchased the Upgrade Kit (they are also included in every 2nd Edition Base Game).

Now, on to something everyone has been asking about: The Folded Space Insert!

Folded Space Insert Pics Are Here!

We have received physical prototype images of the Folded Space insert! Earlier this month on the 16th we received an amazing update from the Folded Space team, which we shared early in our Discord (if you aren’t in our Discord yet, join here!). They included grey foamboard prototypes of the Folded Space insert showing all the components of the Base Game and the Council of the Fallen expansion fitting together in one box.

And yes, somehow it all fits! in a single box!

Due to Essen Speil (a huge board game convention in Germany), they weren’t able to get color prototypes in time for our update. But what is really exciting is that every element you see below that is gray will have a colored design that makes the inside of the box look as amazing as the outside. They have all our art assets and they are working on adding graphics to every component. These graphics will make the insert look amazing and have the added benefit of making it pretty easy to put together! We will share new pics as soon as we receive them!

Make sure you are in our Discord and signed up for our monthly newsletter so you don’t miss out on any updates. They’ll be in next month’s update, but why wait that long to see them :)

Folded Space FAQs:

Here are some FAQs regarding the Folded Space Insert that we addressed in our Discord. If you have any questions, please reach out to us in the comments, in our Discord, or by emailing us at Support@PlayDeliverance.com:

Is this compatible with BGv1? Yes!

Will this fit sleeved cards? Yes with an asterisk. There is space allotted for sleeved cards, but this is also dependent on the thickness of your sleeves. We recommend 60 micron sleeves, but your mileage will vary on thicker sleeves.

Is this how they will look? No, the final product will have full color and art on it! It's gonna look epic!

Will these also fit the acrylic standees? Unfortunately not, BUT the new Acrylic Standee boxes have cardboard inserts now, so at least that's a positive for storage.

Will there be lid lift? There may be some lid lift depending on how you return items, but not very much at all!

Can I store this vertically? Yes, Folded space designed the insert to allow the game to be stored vertically!

Angel Showcase: Rauðbjörn, the Artisan Wayfinder

Rauðbjörn, Artisan Wayfinder (Pronounced Rood - Bee - Yorn ... or Rowd - Ba - Yorn if you're from Texas like me), brings a unique axe-based playstyle to Deliverance that rewards players for thinking ahead about positioning. Rauðbjörn’s axes form the core of his gameplay. He begins each battle with 2 axe tokens and can throw them onto the battlefield (and into foes). When the opportunity arises, he may consume them to strengthen his skills, or recover them when he is ready to put them somewhere new.

Journey is Rauðbjörn’s primary movement skill. He can move up to 3 spaces, but may also remove axes from the battlefield to add extra movement for each axe removed. This gives him a reliable way to recover his axes regardless of where they may be on the battlefield while helping him get into the action.

Chop is Rauðbjörn’s basic damage + courage generating skill. If he is in range of one of his axes, he may remove it to add 1 bonus damage to Chop. This makes skillful axe placement an important consideration right from the start of the battle.

Life Weaving gives Rauðbjörn a strong support skill with significant range. It heals a target angel and gains bonus healing if that angel is heavily damaged. This makes Rauðbjörn surprisingly capable at keeping heavily wounded angels in the fight, including himself. And managing the amount of damage you have sustained is leveraged to powerful effect by some of his Talent cards! You'd expect nothing less from a Viking angel, right?!

Axe Hurl is the primary way Rauðbjörn gets those axes into play. Need an axe token in play to leverage for a benefit? Just peg your foe in their stupid demonic skull with this skill! Axe Hurl deals damage from range, then places the axe near his target where it can be used by his other skills. Since he only has 2 axes (and cannot Axe Hurl when both are on the battlefield), players need to keep track of where they are and decide when recovering one is more valuable than leaving it in position.

The core loop of Rauðbjörn’s gameplay revolves around placing axes where they will be useful, taking advantage of those positions (often by running in and leveling every nearby foe), and recovering them so he can start the process again. Clever axe placement can give Rauðbjörn extra damage, movement, and access to a number of interesting effects as his talents develops.

Here are a few talents for Rauðbjörn, the Artisan Wayfinder that we're excited about:

Extra Tools leans into Rauðbjörn’s identity as an artisan craftsman. With this powerful talent, you gain an extra Heavenly Treasure slot! Extra Tools gives him access to more equipment than most angels and can open up some really interesting options depending on which treasures you find.

Berserker takes Rauðbjörn in a much more aggressive direction. Players willing to let Rauðbjörn take a beating can turn all that damage into some very hard-hitting Chops! It also has a built-in way to help get to those chunks of 7 damage by replacing the cost of the skill with damage dealt to yourself. Exactly what a Viking angel would want to do!

Empyrean Blade gives Rauðbjörn a completely new use for his axes. This talent allows Rauðbjörn to quickly reposition and leap straight into a new group of demons, dealing damage to every demon foolish enough to linger near his blade. This is a really fun talent to use in combination with his Axe Hurl.

Aaaaand I couldn't help but add one more, because we love this skill. Bodyslam sounds exactly like something this giant Viking angel would do, and this is the first time we have leveraged the health stat in a skill like this!

These talents only scratch the surface of the different ways you can build Rauðbjörn. Extra Tools and Bodyslam explores his craftsman playstyle, Berserker rewards a much riskier front-line fighting style, Empyrean Blade expands what is possible with his axe placement. There is plenty more waiting in the rest of his talent deck, and we look forward to all the crazy combinations you discover while playing Rauðbjörn, Artesian Wayfinder!

Do you believe in Aliens?

This one is going to be ultra-interesting to some of you and a complete head-shake to others. But don't dismiss this so quickly! The content is rather interesting, because...

If you believe in Angels and Demons, you believe in aliens!

I know it sounds weird, but please allow me expand on that before I lose you 😆

Aliens are beings not of this world (extra-terrestrials). We know God created angels before he created the world, because they watched creation and cheered (Job 38:4–7)!

Thus, angels are not of this world, and back to my original point... If you believe in Angels and Demons, you believe in aliens!

Which brings me to why I included this section in the update: I gave a talk on Angels, Demons, and Aliens earlier this month, and I think you'll enjoy it as a fan of Deliverance (or angels... or aliens). While the thumbnail isn't great, I have been told by many that the content is riveting!

I was so hyped that we also discussed this on the Faithside Podcast. This thumbnail is way cooler. Also Sam played the role of a grumpy boomer and offered a different perspective on the whole concept of angels and aliens. It was a lot of fun to record!

What's Next?

It's time to press the giant red button! It is our goal to begin manufacturing as quickly as we can 😇 We're waiting on Longpack to update their file system with the new files we provided, and then we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars that you invested into us through Kickstarter on the games and add-ons we're all waiting for!

Deliverance could never exist without you and without crowdfunding. But thanks to you, it's happening!

Now, I want to address Chinese New Year. This is a Chinese holiday that begins February 6th. We believe our manufacturing window is able to complete before CNY begins, which means we keep to schedule. Our estimated window for manufacturing and assembly is 45 days from the day we begin. That lands us in late December or early January, giving us roughly 30 days of time for somebody to pick up our stuff! There is enough wiggle room there that we have to work with in case our manufacturing takes longer than expected, so we're confident at this point that we won't experience a delay due to the holiday.

But as always, our commitment to you is to share the truth, wether it is good, bad, or ugly!

We will share any updates that come in mid-month in our Discord Server and Facebook Community as soon as we have updated timelines or things shipped/delivered from the factory. We also try to send a mid-month update via email (join our email newsletter here). As always, I will report the latest timeline via Kickstarter on the final day of the month.

Thank you for supporting us, and thank you for your encouragement along the way!

Kind regards,

Andrew Lowen & the Deliverance Team

P.S. - I thought this game was pretty cool and wanted to share it with you all. Quest for Canaan is a Christian board game that looks pretty good. I'm backing it, and I think it's worth your time to check it out! Plus, you'll have the added blessing of helping a new Christian publisher out.
